In 1997 Employment Directions expanded the scope of its service to include skills training in the field of Human Services, According to statistics available from the Division of Employment and Training, the field of Human Services is projected to have the third highest growth potential for employment through the year 2005. Individuals entering this program will be provided the skills necessary for entry level positions in Human Service Agencies. Employment Directions will provide job placement upon successful completion of the course. Employment Directions will provide a systematic approach to assist eligible individuals to achieve their employment goals. Upon acceptance, individuals will participate in a review of work history, assessment of skills, aptitudes and interests, develop resumes, cover letters and practice interview techniques. Appropriate job matches will be provided with assistance and support at the job site through counseling as needed. Follow-up monitoring will continue throughout the first year of placement to ensure success. Those who have not completed High School may be eligible to enter die GED preparatory classes offered through Employment Directions and Quinsigamond Community College Partnership. Those individuals will be required to take the TABE assessment. Those who wish to participate in the Employment Directions Human Service Training component will be determined eligible for this field through the assessment process and referred for the next available opening. They will complete a comprehensive six week training in basic skills including : CPR, First Aid, and Medication Administration. Support will be provided through the Department of Transitional Assistance to those who may need child care benefits and are currently receiving public assistance. Individuals will be expected to accept employment, with the assistance of the Support Counselor, at a Human Service Agency upon completion of training. ELIGIBILITY To be eligible for Employment Direction's Job placement service participants must be unemployed or underemployed residents of either Town of Webster or of Milford, MA, meet the federal guidelines for low to moderate income households, and be willing to commit to the guidelines of the program. a General Equivalency Degree or a High
School Diploma, have a basic understanding
and to write English as it would be encountered
the workplace, be able to lift and carry
50 lbs., climb stairs, stoop, bend, and
be able to stand for long periods of time,
pass a CORI background check, and possess
a current driver's license and transportation. family daycare providers. We offer workshops,
annual events for providers and daycare children.

On-going activities include: Garden Therapy Flower arranging workshops are held at the Milford Geriatric Authority on every other third Saturday of the month, Sepember-June. Appoximately 30 residents participate each month. All club members are encouraged to participate in this important activity. Junior Gardening Milford school children are given the opportunity to participate in gardening programs on a monthly schedule during the school year. The program is hosted by club members, and topics covered include birds, wildlife, and conservation concepts. Community Beautification A long range program has been implemented within the town of Milford to beautify the grounds of the town library, Louisa Lake Park, Maher Court, General Draper Park, and the Main Street traffic islands. Art in Bloom The Greenleaf Garden Club particpates in this annual event at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, where club members exhibit floral arrangements designed to compement works of art. Through the years, the Greenleaf Garden Club has won many awards for its entries. (Click

Knights of Columbus In the past years, the Knights of Columbus in Massachusetts have contributed grants in excess of $4,00,000 to aid the handicapped and mentally retarded. Anyone would be more than happy to tell you about the organization and answer any of your questions. The MJWC has promoted a strong tradition of community involvement in arts, conservation, education, home life, and scholarship. The more visible accomplishments include: ROMP (renewing our playgrounds), curbside recycling, teachers' wish lists, an annual Red Cross blood drive, scholarships for graduating Milford High School girls, child assault prevention program, Easter Seals Camperships, and Amblyopia screenings. Although the major thrust of the club is as a local service organization, occasionally the membership sets aside its social conscience in favor of some socializing. Events include: a gala holiday party, game nights, shopping trips, and parties for the children. A gymnasium, game room, and computers are available to youth patrons on a daily basis. The facility is open 2:30 - 8:00 pm Monday - Friday to youths ages 10-17. MOMS Club of MilfordThe MOMS Club (Moms Offering Moms Support) is an international non-profit organization for full-time or part-time stay at home moms. Activities include playgroups, participation in local service projects, monthly meetings and fun-filled activities for moms and children to enjoy together. All activities are organized by volunteer moms and attended by moms and children of all ages.
